zhu zhuThis year’s hot, must-have, beat-your-neighbor-over-the-head-for-it toy makes no sense at all. A Zhu Zhu pet is a robotic hamster, and not even a cool robotic hamster. It’s a cat toy, basically. It employs no new technology, and you can easily get similar robotic rodents. The sole unique thing it does is make a toilet flushing sound, but only if you buy the $50 funhouse for your hamster. Speculators have bought up a ton of stock, and now Zhu Zhu Pets are selling on Amazon and eBay for $40 to $60. That’s $60 for a single hamster with no accessories. ~ Mollie Boutell-Butler on A.V. So this is the top toy for 2009…not the most obvious of choices! Something more cuddly is more my style. I think Goober Bear may just have stolen my heart this Christmas.
