Bake it up, baby now!

Posted on | December 8, 2009 | No Comments

A colleague accidentally printed off some recipes for baking with children. I’m hopeless at baking, so I figured these would be easy enough to try. Wrong. Oh well. Still…it got me thinking about little ones and baking and that it would be a fun activity to do, especially in the holidays.

The very small ones may have some trouble with actual baking, but hand them a fairy cake or cup cake and watch those imaginations roll with decorating! Plain fairy cakes are available at most supermarkets, and then it’s just a very simple water icing – which you’ll have to help spread, if they’re very young – and lots of variety in what kind of topping they can put on top. Smarties, M&M’s, chocolate chips, hundreds-and-thousands, glacé fruit…there are lots of options.

How about it, Mum? Sounds yummy to me. I’ll be right over once you’re done.
